Mapa-mundi [samba and poetry] est le nouvel album de Beatriz Azevedo, avec14 compositions inédites dont elle est l’auteur, "Tocar na Banda", un délicieux maxixe d’Adoniran Barbosa, ainsi qu’une relecture de "Inverno" de José Miguel Wisnik. Le CD a été produit par Alê Siqueira, responsable aussi pour les disques d’Elza Soares (“do cóccix até o pescoço”), Arnaldo Antunes ("Paradeiro"-BMG 2001) et Tom Zé ("Jogos de Armar"-Trama 2000). Mapa-mundi [samba and poetry] fait référence au vers d’Oswald de Andrade: "a teu lado terei o mapa-mundi" [“A tes côtés j’aurai la mappemonde”). Ouverte à l’universel, sans pour autant tomber dans le trou noir du "monde globalisé", Beatriz tient bon le centre de sa propre personnalité, Anthropophagique. Samba n’est pas seulement un rythme, un style, une musique, une culture. La samba est un mot sonore, extrêmement beau, rond. C’est un mot abracadabra. Mantra du Brésil. Samba, samba, samba. La samba comme point de vue, comme boussole, l’artiste a créé mapa-mundi [samba and poetry], pour nommer une création pleine de poèmes et d’inventions, qui ne s’insérait pas dans les formats pré-établis. Avec bonne humeur et ironie, le CD de Beatriz Azevedo rit de toutes les modes, invente le "olodrum'n'bass" et outres bossas. Le CD bénéficie aussi du talent des grands musiciens brésiliens Cristóvão Bastos (collaborateur de Chico Buarque et Paulinho da Viola) et Bocato (trombone et arrangeur, d’Elis Regina à Roberto Carlos, d’Arrigo Barnabé à Carlinhos Brown).

Bum Bum do Poeta

bum bum do poeta est le premier CD de Beatriz Azevedo, avec des participations spéciales d’Adriana Calcanhotto et Zé Celso Martinez Corrêa. Produit par Cid Campos, "bum bum do poeta" a été lancé au Brésil par Natasha Records et tout de suite après au JAPON, par la maison de disque Nippon Crown. Outre ses compositions, le disque présente aussi des collaborations de Beatriz Azevedo avec le poète Augusto de Campos et des traductions du poète russe Vladimir Maiakovski. La chaîne TV Cultura a filmé le spectacle de Beatriz Azevedo et a diffusé l’émission spéciale “bum bum do poeta”, d’une durée d’1 heure, en décembre 2000, avec les participations spéciales de José Miguel Wisnik et de Zé Celso Martinez Corrêa. Les compositions de Beatriz unissent Rythme et Poésie, mélangeant des traditions brésiliennes comme le Maracatu, la Samba et le Maxixe à des pointes de Funk, Blues et Rap. Le CD comporte aussi des musiques profondément mélodiques, dans la lignée de la tradition de la Canção Brasileira. Le plage-titre mélange le Maracatu, machine à écrire, boîtes de films, berimbau et guitare électrique avec le timbre des pífanos de Caruaru
